Wednesday Link Love: Favourite Food Blogs

17 Oct

cookingI’m often asked “how do you know about that?”. Apart from my fact my job requires me to have my finger on the pulse of a few industries, I also try to take an active interest in the world around me. One of the best ways to find out what is trending and what is happening out there is blogs.

Today is the start of a four part series every Wednesday featuring my favourite blogs – food, wine, travel, design – starting with food. Here are the blogs I regularly view.

Local is Lovely is just that, local and lovely. Writer and venison farmer, Sophie Hansen shares recipes from the farm, pictures of her weekend activities with her two gorgeous kids and reports back about interesting people in rural Australia.

Island Menu features great recipes and rich imagery from two foodie friends from Tasmania, photographer Samuel Shelley and Catherine Miller.  They often venture out to fish and farm to great visual result.

Stove Top Revolution is a great blog by Sydney editorial assistant and freelance writer, Sophie McComas. I love the design of her blog as much as I love her recipes, like this little dumpling gem.

Melbourne Gastronome helps me stay in touch my favourite food city and this blog’s namesake. Claire’s posts focus mainly on eating out around town, but occasionally she throws in an overseas trip, homecooked meal or a link to an interesting article or two.

Manger is not for those with a jealous streak. Mimi leads a seemingly perfect existence in the French countryside near Medoc, beautifully photographed by her husband, with all the time in the world to expertly style her delectable cooking. Nah, I’m not jealous at all Mimi!

Eating Asia is a valuable resource for travellers to Asia, written by freelance food writer Robyn Eckhardt and photographer, David Hagerman.

The Adventures of Miss Piggy is another Sydney blog I’ve been enjoying of late. Admin assistant Mel claims to be a terrible cook, therefore eats out to survive, mainly in the inner west.

Farmette features the recipes of Imen, an American girl who married an Irish farmer and now lives in the idyllic Irish countryside cooking ridiculously delicious looking food.

What Katie Ate…I’ve never liked this saying but the words ‘food porn’ pretty much sum this one up. Katie Quinn Davies is a food stylist and photographer and her images are divine. That is all.
