Escape Travel: Lost and Loving It in Morocco

Moroccan Mint Tea

Earlier this year I visited the UNESCO World Heritage Listed city of Fez in Morocco and the Sunday Telegraph (NSW) and Herald Sun (VIC) were kind enough to run my story last weekend. You can read it here.

Fez is a wonderful city to wander and just follow your nose – the smell of urine and ammonia will take you to the tannery, sugary goodness will lead you to the dessert souk, ras el hanout spices take you to the colourful spice souk and anyone wanting a dirham will lead you back home again.

Dar Roumana

Looking into the internal courtyard at Dar Roumana…so intricate.

I treated myself to a night at the gorgeous Dar Roumana, a traditional and luxurious guesthouse with the most incredible views over the medina. It was the perfect place to watch the sunset with a glass of wine (they serve alcohol here, which is not common) and the sunrise with mint tea. Bliss!
